Supportive Parenting Practices: Concrete Steps You Can Take to Reduce the Risks of Self-Harm

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

We know from research and hear all the time that parental support is the most important factor influencing a transgender, non-binary or gender-expansive young person's health and well-being. But what does that actually look like? This workshop will first explore the sobering data about the risks facing transgender and other gender-expansive youth, including depression, drug use and self harm. It will then focus on the specific parenting behaviors that have been shown to directly reduce these negative outcomes. With an emphasis on concrete actions parents and caregivers can employ as they seek to support the young person in their lives, this workshop will leave participants feeling empowered with tangible steps they can take to help their child.
