Isolda Atayde

Isolda Atayde was born and raised in Mexico City and found her passion in advocating for LGBT rights in Mexico and Latin America, focusing on gender expansive children and transgender youth. While living in Mexico City, she set up the first suport group for parents and caregivers of gender expansive children and transgender youth. She was one of the 50 LGBT activists from around the world invited by OUTRight International to advocate for transgender and gender expansive children and teenagers in meetings with different United Nations country missions.  She and her husband  Enrique facilitated a seminar in Lima, Peru specifically directed to Latin/Hispanic families facing gender issues and in June 2016 organized and facilitated a whole day of workshops regarding transgender children in Costa Rica. Just recently she co-organized with COPRED (Mexico's City Anti discrimination Agency) a two day forum for professionals and families regarding the importance of family support for Trans and LGBI children and youth being the first event of its kind to be held in Mexico. She is the Co-President  of the "Asociación Internacional de Familias por la Diversidad Sexual (FDS)" general committee and as of September 2016, she is part of PFLAG´s National Board of Directors and part of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.Isolda is currently the facilitator of Gender Spectrum's monthly call-in support group for Spanish speaking parents/caregivers.
