Joy L. Johnson, PsyD is a bilingual child and family psychotherapist. Dr. Johnson is an active member of the Child and Adolescent Gender Center’s Mind the Gap Consortium and has been an integral contributor to the development of the Center’s gender affirmative youth assessment guidelines and protocols. She practices in Hayward with La Familia Counseling Service. Working with gender non-conforming children and families from a gender affirmative model is one of her specialties. Joy is also the parent of a gender creative child and is working on the development of a children’s picture book introducing the existence of and normalizing gender creativity through the engaging and likable character – Benjamin Bean
